SimplyWise vs Markate: The Honest 2026 Comparison
Real numbers on both. Markate publishes one plan at $49.95 a month. SimplyWise Cost Estimator is $29.99/mo. Markate also prices from photos now, so the old comparison no longer holds.

What an older SimplyWise vs Markate comparison gets wrong
Markate moved in 2026. Most write ups have not caught up, and three things they get wrong matter to the buying decision.
Markate raised its price. The pricing page lists a single plan. Owner Operator runs $49.95 a month. Pay yearly and it drops to $39.95 a month, taken as one payment of $479.40. Each extra employee adds $5.00 a month. Worth knowing before you compare old reviews: in August 2025 that same plan ran $39.95 a month, or $35.95 a month billed yearly as one payment of $431.40. There is no contract. The trial runs 14 days with no credit card. One warning: the page labels the yearly saving as 20 percent on the toggle, then 10 percent in its own FAQ. Run the dollars and the toggle is the right one, because $479.40 against twelve months at $49.95 is a straight 20 percent.
Markate estimates from a photo. Kate Estimator reads a jobsite photo and asks a few clarifying questions. It then sends a branded quote by text or email for one tap approval. Markate’s own page puts that turnaround at about 1 minute. Any comparison that still calls photo pricing a Markate gap is out of date.
Markate tracks mileage. The pricing page lists a mileage log under expense management, inside the base plan, and it has been there since at least August 2025. Any comparison that still calls mileage a Markate gap was wrong when it was written.
One thing did not change. Markate charges for growth features one at a time. Online booking, review requests, the branded portal, proposal templates, and Zapier each add $10 a month.
Four places SimplyWise vs Markate split apart
Both tools write estimates. They both send invoices. Each one now starts from a photo. The split shows up in speed, scope, and how the monthly line moves as you grow.
-
Speed of the estimate itself
SimplyWise turns a photo into an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds, with material quantities. Kate Estimator also starts from a photo. Markate puts its own turnaround at about 1 minute, after a short clarifying chat. Both beat filling in a blank template by hand. One of them finishes while you are still standing in the kitchen.
-
What sits inside the base price
SimplyWise has one price and no feature gating. The subscription opens every app in the suite, receipts and mileage included. Markate’s base plan covers scheduling, dispatch, job costing, invoicing, and a customer hub. Its online booking, review requests, and branded portal sit outside that base, at $10 a month each.
-
How the bill grows
SimplyWise publishes one flat price with no per user charge on the plan. Markate adds $5.00 a month for each employee on top of the plan. Add three crew and two $10 add ons. The Markate line then moves $35 past the sticker.
-
What each one leaves out
SimplyWise does not run a crew calendar, dispatch board, or marketing campaigns, though the Receptionist app in the same subscription answers calls and takes scheduling requests. It has no change order feature yet. Markate does not list a receipt scanner, and it publishes no price for Kate Estimator. Pick the gap you can live with, because neither tool closes both.

SimplyWise: from photo to priced quote
The estimate is where SimplyWise is hardest to beat. You photograph the work. The app returns an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds, with material quantities on every line. There is no template to fill in. That is what makes it fast enough to quote on site.
Where it wins
SimplyWise also covers the money around the estimate. The same subscription opens receipt scanning and mileage across the suite. There is no second bill and no per user charge. Real time material pricing keeps the numbers current. On an iPhone Pro, the LiDAR room scan measures the space for you. The client then signs a professional, branded quote to approve it.
- Photo into an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds, with material quantities.
- Real time material pricing, plus a LiDAR room scan on iPhone Pro models.
- Receipt scanning and mileage in the same subscription.
- One flat price at $29.99/mo, with no per user charge on the plan.
Where it stops
The honest limit is breadth. SimplyWise does not run a crew calendar, a dispatch board, campaigns, or review requests, though the Receptionist app in the same subscription answers calls and takes scheduling requests. It carries a basic client list rather than a full customer hub. It has no change order feature yet, so the workaround is a duplicate estimate. The web version edits estimates only, so the phone stays the primary tool.
- No scheduling or dispatch calendar.
- No marketing campaigns or review requests.
- Basic client list rather than a full customer hub.
- No change order feature yet, and a limited web version.
Markate: one platform for the whole shop
Markate does far more than estimate. It sells itself as a service operations platform, and the base plan earns the label. Scheduling, dispatch, job costing, invoicing, and card payments all sit inside the $49.95 a month price. So do a customer hub, time tracking, payroll reports, and a mileage log.
Where it wins
Consolidation is the payoff. The same platform that books the job dispatches the tech and stores the history. It sends the invoice, then drops the customer into a follow up campaign for next season. Data migration comes free, and Markate quotes 1 to 3 business days for it. Support runs by chat, phone, and email from the United States, 9am to 5pm MST on weekdays.
- Scheduling, dispatch, and a customer hub inside the base plan.
- Crew tools: time tracking, location tracking, and payroll reports.
- A marketing and review layer a focused estimator does not carry.
- Free data migration, quoted at 1 to 3 business days.
Where it costs you
The trade off is weight and metering. A platform asks for setup and learning before it pays off. Six of the growth features owners actually want carry $10 a month tags. Messaging runs on top of that: 10 cents a text on a drip, $10 for 2,000 emails, $1.10 for a jumbo postcard. Kate Estimator sits outside the plan entirely, behind a request form, with no published figure.
- Six common growth features cost $10 a month each.
- Texts, emails, and postcards meter on top of the plan.
- $5.00 a month for each employee on the account.
- No published price for Kate Estimator photo estimating.
Run the twelve month math
Sticker prices flatter Markate. Take a solo operator on annual billing. SimplyWise runs $239.99 for the year. Markate runs $479.40 for the year. That is our arithmetic on the two published annual figures. Markate lands at almost exactly double.
Now take a three person shop that wants online booking and review requests. Markate charges the $39.95 a month base. Add $5.00 a month for each of the two crew, then $10 a month twice for the add ons. That works out to $69.95 a month, or $839.40 over twelve months on our math. SimplyWise stays at $239.99, because it charges neither by seat nor by feature.
The sticker is rarely the bill. Markate’s pricing page lists more than a dozen paid features, most at $10 a month. On top of those sit metered rates for texts, emails, postcards, and voicemail drops. Price the plan you will actually run, not the row you clicked. On the SimplyWise side the arithmetic is shorter, because the whole suite comes with the plan.
SimplyWise vs Markate: pick by your bottleneck
There is no single winner here. Any comparison that crowns one is selling you something. Match the tool to where your week actually loses money. Here are the four situations home service owners land in most often.
Your quotes go out too slow
Pick SimplyWise. You lose jobs when the number takes a day to build. A photo into an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds is the direct fix. The learning curve is short and the price is flat at $29.99/mo. The 7-day free trial costs you nothing to test on a real job.
You want one system for everything
Pick Markate. Juggling separate apps for scheduling, customers, and reviews is its own kind of mess. One platform earns its weight by collapsing them. The $49.95 a month base covers the operations core, and the 14 day trial needs no credit card. Budget for the add ons before you commit.
You are solo and watching every dollar
Pick SimplyWise. For a one person shop, $239.99 a year against $479.40 a year is a real gap. The SimplyWise number already includes receipts and mileage. You give up scheduling and marketing tools that a solo operator often runs from a phone calendar anyway.
Growth depends on repeat work and referrals
Pick Markate. Referrals and repeat customers need review requests, drip campaigns, and postcards. That is exactly the layer a focused estimator does not have. Read the metered rates first, then decide which pieces you switch on.
Whichever platform runs your week, the quote goes out first. Price a job from a photo in about 6 seconds and send it before you leave the site. Free to try.
You can also run both
SimplyWise vs Markate does not have to be either or. Plenty of shops run a focused estimator for the bid and a platform for everything after it. Quote on site with SimplyWise so the number lands before the customer cools off. Let Markate handle the schedule, the customer history, the invoice, and the review request.
That pairing also sidesteps the one Markate price nobody can plan around. Kate Estimator has no published figure. A shop that wants photo estimating on a known monthly cost can put SimplyWise in front of the platform. The two layers solve different problems and do not step on each other.
Send the price before your competitor calls back

Markate prices from a photo now, so speed is no longer the whole argument. The gap moved to what the base plan covers and how fast the bill grows.SimplyWise Editorial
SimplyWise vs Markate: common questions
What is the real difference between SimplyWise and Markate?
SimplyWise is a focused estimator. Markate is a service operations platform. Both now price a job from a photo, so the difference is scope. Markate also schedules, dispatches, stores customer history, and runs campaigns and review requests. SimplyWise stays on the estimate and the costs around it. Receipt scanning and mileage come in the same subscription. One quotes fast. The other runs the whole shop.
Which one is cheaper, SimplyWise or Markate?
SimplyWise. It is $29.99/mo or $239.99/yr, about $20/mo on annual, with a 7-day free trial. Markate lists Owner Operator at $49.95 a month. Pay yearly and that becomes $39.95 a month, taken as one payment of $479.40. On annual billing Markate costs almost exactly double. It also adds $5.00 a month for each employee, and six growth features cost $10 a month each.
Does Markate estimate from a photo now?
Yes. Markate added Kate Estimator. It reads a jobsite photo, asks clarifying questions, then sends a branded quote by text or email for one tap approval. Markate’s own page puts that turnaround at about 1 minute. Two caveats apply. It sits outside the base plan behind a request form, and Markate publishes no price for it. SimplyWise returns an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds inside its flat plan.
How much does Markate cost for a small crew?
Start from the base. Yearly billing puts Owner Operator at $39.95 a month. Each extra employee adds $5.00 a month. A three person shop that also wants online booking and review requests pays two $10 a month add ons. That works out to $69.95 a month, or $839.40 over twelve months on our arithmetic. Texts, emails, and postcards meter separately on top.
Fit and workflow questions
Does SimplyWise do scheduling, marketing, and reviews like Markate?
Mostly no, and it is fair to say so plainly. SimplyWise does not run a crew calendar, a dispatch board, campaigns, or review requests. The Receptionist app in the same subscription does answer calls and take scheduling requests, but that is not a dispatch board. It carries a basic client list rather than a full customer hub. That territory belongs to Markate. If staying booked and earning reviews limits your growth, that layer is a real reason to choose Markate. If quoting speed is the limit, SimplyWise covers it for less.
Can I use SimplyWise and Markate together?
Yes, and for many shops that is the practical setup. They solve different problems, so running both is not redundant. Quote on site with SimplyWise so the number reaches the customer first. Let Markate handle the schedule, customer history, invoicing, and the review request. It also gives you photo estimating at a known monthly cost, which Kate Estimator does not publish.
Which one fits you
Who should pick Markate over SimplyWise?
A home service business that wants one system for the whole operation. You may juggle separate apps for scheduling, customer records, campaigns, and review requests. Markate collapses all of that into one login. The trade off is setup time, a platform commitment, and a bill that grows by employee and by feature. Read the paid feature list on the pricing page before you sign up.
Who should pick SimplyWise over Markate?
A solo pro or small crew whose biggest drag is turning a walkthrough into a professional quote. A photo into an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds is the direct fix. The $29.99/mo price with a 7-day free trial keeps the commitment small. You give up scheduling, marketing, and review tools. If conversion is your actual problem, SimplyWise targets exactly that.
