"The wait times are of course extremely long. They have no method to the numbers they call. Their employees randomly close their windows for 20 minutes at a time. The lady that helped me was fast and efficient which was incredible, but it's been months and I don't have a new SS card like I needed. She never actually put in the paperwork. So I have wasted yet another day at the social security administration. But what can you do? Looks like I will be headed back. I do like this location over the Gravios road location as the employees here are a thousand times more competent and they have more room."

"AWFUL. I walked in and saw there were at least 50 people seated waiting at 10:30am on a weekday. There were clearly not even close to enough windows open to service the number of people waiting. I asked if it was always like this of it there was a best time to arrive and was told the line starts well before this office opens and continues all day. They are extremely understaffed so be prepared for a massive wait, meaning those with a job will need to take PTO as they have very limited operating hours."

How do I apply for Social Security benefits?

How do I report a death?

Funeral homes typically handle reporting of a death to the SSA. However, you will need to provide the funeral home with the deceased’s Social Security number for them to do so. Note that deaths cannot be reported online. If you want to report the person’s death yourself, call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. You also visit your local Social Security office in person.
