"they cancel my check because of my name, They pay the doc to check the names going in, and it happened that a person got incarcerated had my same name. so with out checking the photo or ss# or dob. they assumed it was me, so they wanted to charge me 3,000.00 and cancel my check. which threw my account in overdraft. now i have to wait to they feel like to fix this matter. only because of the same name. They pay the virginia doc for this to screw their own people?"

"very disappointing and incompetent. I went to the office a month ago just to update my status and the clerk who handled my case joined my first name to my middle name and also that of my daughter's. I have no legal document showing my name in that fashion, yet I have to be the one running up and down taking time from work to fix a mistake the office made. Then the clerk I spoke with today had the nerve to be arguing with me. Very poor service. The state/government pays you from our tax fund to provide a service the least you can do is be courteous and provide the service. I am extremely disappointed!"

How do I report a death?

Funeral homes typically handle reporting of a death to the SSA. However, you will need to provide the funeral home with the deceased’s Social Security number for them to do so. Note that deaths cannot be reported online. If you want to report the person’s death yourself, call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. You also visit your local Social Security office in person.
