The material is cheap by the square foot, so the dollars hide in bag count, board-feet, and access labor. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/construction-and-extraction\/insulation-workers.htm\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a> puts the median annual wage for insulation workers, floor, ceiling, and wall, at $48,680 in May 2024. The lowest 10 percent earn under $35,950 and the highest 10 percent over $77,160.<\/p>\n<h2>How to estimate insulation jobs in 8 steps<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"pm__steps\">\n<li>\n<h3>Take off square footage by assembly<\/h3>\n<p>Measure each assembly on its own: attic flat as length times width, walls as perimeter times height less the big openings, the crawlspace, and the rim joist band. The Owens Corning ProPink L77 chart reads 45.0 square feet per bag at R-49, so 1,500 divided by 45.0 is 33.3 and you order 34 bags.
