WHY CONTRACTORS SWITCH

Three things Workiz does not do

Every advantage below traces back to how SimplyWise was built. Mobile first, for a contractor standing in a kitchen with a phone and ten minutes. SimplyWise Cost Estimator turns a jobsite photo into an itemized estimate in about 6 seconds. It is free to try, then $29.99 a month, or $239.99 a year on the annual plan.

01

Photo to itemized estimate

Shoot the room, the roof, the panel. SimplyWise reads the photo and builds the line items. Materials, labor and fees, each with a unit, a quantity and a price. Workiz estimates come from a price book your business builds first. Any tech sends one from the phone in minutes, their page says. That is a catalog, not a camera. A sweep of their pricing, estimates, invoicing, scheduling, mobile app and FAQ pages on September 2, 2026 found no photo input.

Photo in, priced estimate out

02

Room measurement from the phone

SimplyWise reads room dimensions off the LiDAR sensor on a Pro iPhone. The measurements land in the estimate with no tape and no plan set. Workiz does not list a measurement feature on any of its pages. Their mobile app page covers schedules, call histories and timesheets, which is what a dispatch tool needs.

Scan the room, skip the tape

03

Print a price

SimplyWise is $29.99 a month, or $239.99 a year, printed on the pricing page. Workiz shows Request pricing on Standard, Pro and Ultimate, and again under every column of its comparison grid. Their FAQ says annual plans save $400 or more and are billed at the time of purchase. You get a number on a sales call, not on the page.

SimplyWise rows verified against the live release and the SimplyWise Cost Estimator help pages. Workiz rows verified on workiz.com (pricing plans, estimates, invoicing, job scheduling, online payments, phone system, mobile app, features and FAQ pages) on September 2, 2026, including their own plan cards and comparison grid, which is where every plan tier named above comes from. Where a row says a capability is not listed, a sweep of those pages turned up nothing for it on that date.

WHAT EACH ONE COSTS

Price the whole ladder, not the headline

Workiz does not print a price. All three tiers say Request pricing, and their FAQ says plans are billed annually at the time of purchase. SimplyWise is one flat subscription that opens every app in the suite, and the number is on the page. Both ladders below come off the two companies’ own pricing pages, read on September 2, 2026.

Plan Price Seats Trial
SimplyWise Cost Estimator, monthly $29.99 a month Not published 7 days free
SimplyWise Cost Estimator, annual $239.99 a year, about $20/mo Not published 7 days free
Workiz Standard Request pricing, no rate published Not published 7 days free, no card
Workiz Pro Request pricing, no rate published Not published 7 days free, no card
Workiz Ultimate Request pricing, no rate published Not published 7 days free, no card

Workiz rows are from workiz.com/pricing-plans, read September 2, 2026, where Standard, Pro and Ultimate each show a Request pricing button in place of a rate, and again under each column of the comparison grid. Their FAQ states that annual plans save $400 or more over monthly billing and are billed at the time of purchase, that the 7 day trial needs no credit card, and that card readers are sold separately. Genius Phone, Genius Answering and Genius Marketing are labelled sold separately. SimplyWise pricing is from simplywise.com. Read both pages before you sign. Software pricing moves.

THE JOBSITE WORKFLOW

What the same Tuesday looks like in each tool

The honest test is not the feature grid. It is the walk through you are doing at 4pm with a homeowner waiting on a number. Here is that hour in SimplyWise.

1
Shoot the work

Photos of the room, the damage, the panel. On a Pro iPhone, scan the room and the dimensions come with it.

2
Describe what changes

Talk it through with the voice button, or upload the plans the homeowner already sent you.

3
Read the line items

Materials, labor and fees come back itemized. Each line carries a unit, a quantity and a price you can edit, plus your built in markup.

4
Send it before you leave

Hand over a branded quote the client signs to approve. Invoice off the same record when the work is done.

Workiz can send an estimate from the phone too. The path runs through a price book your office builds and maintains first, then a tech picks the lines. That fits a dispatched service company with a fixed menu of jobs. It is the wrong shape of tool for a one truck operation pricing three walk throughs a day, where no two jobs share a line item. WHO SHOULD PICK WHICH

Pick the one that matches how your week actually runs

This is not a close call in either direction. The two tools solve different problems. The wrong pick costs you either speed or structure.

Pick SimplyWise if

The estimating-first case

  1. Your week is walk throughs and bids. The bottleneck is turning a site visit into a number the same day.
  2. You want to know the price before the sales call. $29.99 a month is on the page.
  3. You want the estimate, the quote, the invoice and the missed calls on one subscription.
  4. You price remodel work where nobody has a plan set and no two jobs share a line item.

Pick Workiz if

The field-service case

  1. You dispatch technicians on a schedule and need routing, on my way texts and a shared calendar.
  2. Your jobs come from a fixed menu. A price book and a client portal with online booking fit that.
  3. You want automations that chase estimates and invoices without a human touching them.
  4. You run inventory, purchase orders or service plans, which their Ultimate plan carries.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Common questions, answered

Is SimplyWise a replacement for Workiz?
If your company runs on dispatch, routing and a client portal, Workiz is the right tool. SimplyWise will not replace it. If your days run on walk throughs and bids, SimplyWise is faster at the one job that wins work, and it tells you the price up front.

Can I run SimplyWise and Workiz together?
Yes. Price the job in SimplyWise on site and send the branded quote. Then carry the approved job into Workiz for scheduling, dispatch and the client portal.

How much does Workiz cost?
Their pricing page does not say. On September 2, 2026, Standard, Pro and Ultimate each showed a Request pricing button in place of a rate. Their FAQ states that annual plans save $400 or more over monthly billing and are billed at the time of purchase, and that the 7 day free trial needs no credit card. You get the number on a sales call.

How much does SimplyWise cost?
SimplyWise Cost Estimator is $29.99 a month. On the annual plan it is $239.99 a year, about $20/mo. There is a 7-day free trial, and one subscription opens every app in the SimplyWise suite.

Does Workiz do photo estimating?
Their own pages do not list it. Workiz estimates come from a price book, and their estimates page says any tech can send a branded estimate from the phone in minutes. Before and after photos are stored through a CompanyCam integration. Verified on workiz.com on September 2, 2026.

Can I measure a room with my phone instead of a tape?
In SimplyWise, yes, on a Pro iPhone. The room scan reads the LiDAR sensor and drops the dimensions into the estimate. Workiz does not list a measurement feature on any of its pages.

Which one is right for a solo contractor?
SimplyWise, in most cases. Workiz’s own FAQ says it supports every business from mid size teams of 5 or more technicians up, and its plan cards are built around automations, dispatch and a client portal. If you are one truck pricing walk throughs, you are paying for a dispatch board you will not open, at a price you cannot see until the call.

Does either one handle change orders?
Neither lists a change order feature on its own pages. SimplyWise does not have one yet; the workaround is duplicating the estimate and resending it. Workiz’s pages describe estimates, invoices and sales proposals, with no change order module named. Verified on both sites on September 2, 2026.
